Vatsala S. Sastry, MD, attended M.S. Ramaiah Medical College/Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) in Karnataka, India, and was awarded her medical degree in 1985. Her compulsory rotating internship was served at the same educational venue, which was followed by her internship at Grant Hospital of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois, and her internal medicine residency at Stritch School of Medicine Loyola University Chicago, Grant Hospital of Chicago, and the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science Chicago Medical School in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Sastry is fellowship-trained in infectious disease medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received board certification in internal medicine and infectious disease medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine and remains at the forefront of her challenging specialty via memberships and affiliations with prestigious professional societies and associations, such as the Infectious Disease Society of America, the American College of Physicians, the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin, and the Hernando County Medical Society.
